Gordon Alexander ‘Beef’ Ross

1923 - 2024

While residing at the Wales Home and five days into his 102nd year Gordon/Beef/Dad/Baba passed away peacefully in his sleep during the ‘super harvest moon’ on September 18, 2024.  Gordon was predeceased by his loving wife Betty Ross (nee Mabel Elizabeth McCullough), mother Carrie Shelburne Ross (Mackay), father Alexander Clark Ross, and sisters Dorothy Irene Newton and Sylvia Margaret Davidson.

He leaves to mourn, his son Peter (Danièle Bergeron), Greenfield Park, his daughter Catherine (David St. Onge), Saint-Lazare and son Paul (Lori Ross), Coldstream, BC and the five grandchildren who kept ‘Baba’ young at heart Heidi and Melissa St. Onge and Hanna (Matt Franko), Carl (Elysia Raimondo) and Lucas Ross (companion Carmelita Roberts).

Gordon was born in Sherbrooke and enjoyed his life in the Eastern Townships sharing fun loving times with family and friends.  Beef was attracted to and excelled in all contact sports, which lead him to earning an active spot on the Montreal Alouette’s roster and after, coaching the Bishop’s Gaiters for six years.  In his younger years he trained and became a Pilot officer in the RCAF.  Dad’s working years were varied from, delivering ice, heating oil, ending his career assembling compressors and coolers at the Ingersoll Rand.  Gordon was an active member with the Y’s Men Club and the Sherbrooke Snowshoe Club.  His most cherished hobby was managing woodlots with his lifelong buddy, Ross Hunting.

At his request, there will be no funeral service, and later, a private family internment of ashes will be held at the Elmwood Cemetery (Sherbrooke).  In remembrance of Gordon's life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to the Wales Home Foundation.
